General Hospital Ikorodu

Brief overview

General Hospital Ikorodu was established in 1950 at an area called Agbala in Ikorodu as a cottage hospital. It moved to its present location on TOS Benson Road, Ikorodu on Monday 21st November, 1983. It was commissioned by the first Civilian Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande. It serves an average of 40,000 patients per month. General Hospital Ikorodu is a four-in-one hospital with annexes at;

  1. Old Agbala where General Hospital Ikorodu
    emerged from which is now called Agbala
    Paediatric Centre.
  2. An annexe at Imota.
  3. Medicare for Majidun Rehabilitation Centre which is under the Ministry of youth and social development.

Based on patient load, the hospital is about the busiest secondary facility in Lagos State. It is a multi-specialist hospital and presently has a bed capacity of 265 and a staff strength of about 700.Due to the need for expansion and quality improvement, Governor Raji Babatunde Fashola commissioned the 1st Maternal and Child Centre (MCC) in Lagos State in
